Winston County Self Help Cooperative (WCSHC) is working to address the significant hunger issue in the state. The Mississippi Food Network reports that 12.6% of seniors in Mississippi experience regular food shortages, highlighting the deep connection between food insecurity and poverty. This lack of access to nutritious food can lead to serious health complications. To help combat food insecurity among the elderly, WCSHC has taken action by donating locally grown collard greens, cabbages, sweet potatoes, and onions to families in the Jackson, MS, Metropolitan area. Mr. Dee Dotson of the WCSHC has provided the essential produce to twenty families in need.
