On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the WCSHC had its Quarterly Meeting at the demonstration site on 2948 Highpoint/Wier Rd. Just before the meeting started, Mr. Taylor and the members reminisced, recalling how the community came together and helped one another. He drew a comparison between today’s community and the community in the past. WCSHC is needed in this community to establish a standard for how community members should treat each other.
Ms. Mary Ann Kelly called the meeting to order with a prayer. Afterward, Mr. Frank Taylor introduced the speaker, Mr. Kyle Carran from Cadence Bank in Louisville, MS. Mr. Kyle talked about fraud and scams. He said we are living in the internet age, where scamming can be done easily. There are various types of fraud and scams, including the Grandparent Scam, IRS Scam, Toll Scam, and UPS Scam. Mr. Kyle advised the members not to disclose their personal information, including Social Security and Medicaid numbers, or their address, if asked. That will be a RED Flag. MR. Kyle wanted the members to be aware of scammers.

As the meeting progressed, Mr. Taylor reviewed the various events that WCSHC had accomplished in the Quarterly Report. Examples include the Community Event, Greenboro Community 155 Birthday Celebration, Business Meeting, Business/Delinquent Taxes Meeting, Youth Events, and Technical Assistance, among others. Mr. Taylor also asked Mr. Allen to talk about the Field Day / Meeting at the Federation of Southern Cooperatives, which was founded in 1967 by twenty-two Agriculture Cooperatives, Credit Unions, and Self-Help community organizations affiliated with the Civil Rights movements of the 1960s. Mr. Allen stated that the Federation of Southern Corporation is preparing to launch a Memorial Legacy Project, which will recognize and honor the contributions of community leaders, grassroots leaders and organizers, and supportive organizations. The Winston County Self-Help accomplished a lot this Quarter. Mr. Taylor said, “Let’s keep it moving in this Last Quarter.”
