The Winston County Self Help Cooperative’s 2026 Strawberry Crop is providing members with enthusiasm. Mayla Odom, WCSHC, said, “She is looking forward to harvesting and making jams in the upcoming canning season. Mayla recited details about last year’s crop with a glowing smile. “It was an awesome experience watching the plants grow through the infancy stages into a full-plage crop of tasty strawberries.” Rev. Alonzo Miller, Farm Manager, allocated tidbits on managing the strawberry crop. “We hope the 2026 crop will produce an abundant amount of berries. We will orchestrate canning workshops with the youths and seniors in the community. I monitored the crop today, December 10, 2025, and I discovered one strawberry plant maturing with blooms. If this process continues, we might start harvesting in early February of 2026. We are working to help save rural America.”
