WCSHC 2026 Delinquent Property Taxes Campaign

Wednesday 17 June 2026

“Not paying property taxes is one of the major reasons why families lose ownership of their land. There are several issues that will trigger this unfortunate situation,” according to Frank Taylor, Team Leader of the Winston County Self Help Cooperative (WCSHC) in Louisville, MS. The most common reasons are death and health issues; the individual who normally paid property taxes could be confined in a nursing home or suffering from mental health issues. Therefore, our organization works feverishly to help families keep ownership of their land. Today, we kicked off “WCSHC’s 2026 Delinquent Property Taxes Campaign” today with a fortified effort to raise awareness of the delinquent property taxes problem in our communities. WCSHC obtained the most recent delinquent list from the County Chancery Clerk. The co-op members and community engagers will thoroughly investigate each page. After the investigation process concludes, then members will start placing calls to remind individuals to pay their property taxes. This will be an ongoing effort until delinquent property taxes auctions occur on Monday, August 31, 2026. If you have not paid your 2023 property taxes, then you are in immediate jeopardy of losing ownership of your homestead. You must respond with urgency to preserve or keep your family’s legacy. WCSHC is challenging churches, civic organizations, and community-based organizations to develop strategies to help families save their legacy of land ownership. For more information, call 601.291.2704 or visit wcshc.com
