Allen McReynolds’ Cattle Philosophy

Weather conditions have turned cold and wet, which are not conducive for humans or animals. We should protect our families from the elements by providing food and safe shelter. As a cattle farmer, I want to manage my investment by creating a quality environment during this cold wave. This is Allen McReynolds’ philosophy. “Producers should ensure animals are provided with adequate feed sources to meet their nutritional needs. Protein, fat, and energy are needed in greater amounts during extreme cold/wet weather. Cotten seeds, soybeans, and corn products can serve as good feed sources.

Hillsides behind a tree wind break is a good feeding area during the winter months, especially when it’s cold and wet. Hillsides can allow for drainage, so animals are not standing in mud/water. A good clump of trees can provide a wind break to help block some of the cold wind.” You can contact allen58mcreynolds@gmail.com
