The Winston County Self Help Cooperative (WCSHC) team members, Ms. Pamela and Mayla, traveled to Columbus, Mississippi, to attend the 4th District of the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church 2026 Conference. The conference took place in three locations throughout the month of July: Shreveport, Louisiana; Columbus, Mississippi; and Olive Branch, Mississippi.
During the conference, Pamela and Mayla engaged with attendees and shared information about the services and resources provided by the WCSHC, highlighting the organization’s commitment to supporting landowners, farmers, and rural communities through education, outreach, and technical assistance. The primary focus of their outreach this year was the WCSHC’s Delinquent Property Tax Campaign, emphasizing the importance of paying property taxes and keeping land in the family. They encouraged individuals to understand that paying property taxes helps protect land ownership, preserve generational wealth, and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
During their downtime, Pamela and Mayla also had the opportunity to fellowship with others, build meaningful connections, and share in a spirit of community. They enjoyed listening to the choirs as they sang songs of praise and worship, making the conference a meaningful experience that combined education, outreach, fellowship, and faith.
