Miller Avenue Litter-Free

Litter can hamper and harm a locality’s ability to secure employment opportunities for its residents. A county in western Mississippi recently lost an economic opportunity for its distressed citizens. A company official indicated that the unbearable sight of litter in the streets and unkempt neighborhoods factored into their overall decision.

Litter can also cause long-term health issues for family members and for individuals living in surrounding communities. We should take charge of this initiative to keep our communities litter-free. Community members want new sources of employment for future generations to sustain the legacy of life in Winston County. There are several groups and organizations doing their due diligence to fulfill this mission.

Today, we highlight Hubert Nicholson for his ongoing efforts to remove litter along Miller Avenue in Louisville, MS. Hubert said, “This is a daily grind of picking up trash along the street. I believe a generational change is in the making, as people become more socially conscious about the previous mistreatment of the environment. In the meantime, I am asking the citizens of Winston County to join the campaign to keep their community litter-free.”

Hubert’s work continues to help save rural America.
