Louisville High School is home to the Wildcats and has an impressive football team that clinched the State Championship in 2024. The WCSHC team arrived on campus on May 19, 2025, to deliver a canning workshop. The Senior class of 2025 had just graduated. The atmosphere that morning was calm, signaling the wind-down of the school year as summer break was just around the corner. As I made my way to the Votech Building, I noticed that students had already gathered to help Mayla prepare for the workshop.
Mayla introduced herself and explained the purpose of our visit. She detailed the ingredients and walked everyone through the step-by-step process of making strawberry jam. At first, she looked for volunteers, but the students were a bit hesitant to jump in. However, as the workshop progressed, they started to warm up, asking questions and gradually getting involved in the jam-making alongside their teachers. Some students even shared that they were taking culinary classes at school, which only added to the excitement. By the end of the workshop, everyone left with a sense of happiness and accomplishment, each taking home a jar of their delicious homemade strawberry jam.
