Yes, Ollie Gladney-Stone, 93 years old, continues to put her hands in the dirt, 8.5.2026. Ollie said, “I remember, as a child, not wanting to work on the family farm. Nevertheless, it was mandatory for the children to help support and sustain the family, by hoeing the grass or using a bucket to harvest the vegetables. In my early twenties, I moved to Chicago and raised my family. After Gus and I retired from our respective jobs, we decided to move back to Louisville in 1995. This presented an opportunity to reconnect with family and the natural resources. I have been planting hills of vegetables yearly around the carport. Caring for the plants provides daily exercise. I love watching the plants grow from infancy to the harvest cycle. Now, I thoroughly enjoy putting my hands in the dirt because it is not mandatory. I am thankful to have mental awareness and the physical capacity at 93 years old to live independently. God is blessing Ollie Gladney-Stone.
