Men’s Health Fair 2025

Sunday 15 June 2025

On Saturday, June 14, 2025, the Winston County Self Help Corporative (WCSHC) hosted a Men’s Health Fair at Peter’s Rock Worship Family Center in Starkville, MS. WCSHC extends its vision beyond farming; we are dedicated to the holistic well-being of every individual. We believe that true health encompasses all aspects of life. That’s why, for Men’s Health Month, the WCSHC team actively reached out to the men in our churches and communities—encouraging them to prioritize their health by visiting the doctor and getting regular check-ups. Together, we can pave the way for a longer, healthier life and empower each other to thrive in every facet of our existence.

The Health Fair started with prayer and breakfast. As the men were socializing, Mrs. Cheryl Young, who is the Head Nurse at Peter’s Rock, welcomed the men to the Health Fair. She shared a wealth of information about the various tests, pamphlets, and handouts she had on hand, which included vital screenings such as blood pressure and blood sugar tests, as well as breast examinations, among others.

During her thorough examination, she discovered a concerning lump in one of the men’s left breasts, while several others showed elevated blood pressure and blood sugar levels, highlighting the importance of proactive health checks. She encouraged the men to consult their physician.

Overall, the Health Fair was a great success, and they are looking forward to next year’s Men’s Health Fair. The Men’s Department of Peter’s Rock, WFC, expressed their gratitude to the WCSHC.
