The Carroll County’s Community Health Advisors Men in Black and Blue sponsored a community health fair on Saturday, February 22, 2025, 8-11 am, at Vaiden High School Gym, Vaiden, Mississipi. Mr. Claude Elam, President of the organization, said:

“We are providing an opportunity for families and individuals to gain access to basic health services. We have health vendors on-site to provide free health checks. This health fair will include shared decision-making, the importance of regular health screenings, and getting men involved with their health. This event may be some of the attendees’ first contact with medical professionals in twenty years. Typically, Black males in our community will not seek medical assistance until a crisis is prevailing. By managing their health, we are working to ensure everyone has a good quality of life. The Montgomery County’s Community Health Advisors Men in Black and Blue will host a health fair in Winona, MS, on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the National Guard 22 Industrial Boulevard, Winona, MS. We want to thank our vendors, supporters, volunteers, and members for creating a successful event.  Additionally, we want to thank the Fannie Lou Hamer Cancer Foundation and staff member Stephanie Peeples for providing leadership to help save lives in rural America; and the Winston County Self Help Cooperative partners with the Carroll County’s Community Health Advisors Men in Black and Blue Organization for delivering technical services to landowners.”
