Keeping it Clean

The Greensboro Community is an idyllic place to live and raise a family. This profound hamlet was founded and homesteaded in 1870 by newly freed slaves, who migrated westward from the Carolinas to start new lives. My maternal family settled in this newly formed settlement. This group of individuals used fortitude in creating a livable community. They used their bare hands and cobbled a pathway forward for eight generations. These individuals built makeshift homes for their families to be housed and planted crops to feed their loved ones. As time traversed, family members gained access to education to change the family’s fortune. This momentous step allowed our great-great-grandparents to construct stick-built homes and purchase vehicles. They worked through the Jim Crow Era to leave us Greensboroians an earned legacy. We should uphold our forefathers’ efforts by keeping the community free of litter. Therefore, we are asking you to put bags in your vehicles for trash use. You could be in Greensboro, New Zion, Zion Ridge, Mt. Pleasant # 2, Hopewell, or Pleasant Grove Communities. We are asking you to help keep Winston County free of litter.
