Frank Speaks to Rural Americans

Thursday 22 August 2024

Winston County Self Help Cooperative’s Team Leader, Frank Taylor, took part in and shared information with the Carroll County Men in Black and Blue Organization on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 6 pm. Marsh Bear Baptist Church served as the venue for this formative group of men. This team of concerned gentlemen is focused on the mental and physical health of the men in our communities, according to Claude Elam, a member of Carroll County Men in Black and Blue Organization. “Prostate cancer occurs at a higher rate among African American men; therefore, we are on a purposeful mission to inform our brothers about this silent killer.” Claude continued, “We are planning for our annual prostate awareness event. We have scheduled it for Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 9 am. J. Z. George High School Gym will be the host site for this life-saving event here in North Carrollton. This will be a family event. We will have health activities involving our wives and children. If you are diagnosed with prostate issues, then this will affect the entire family. Therefore, we want to educate families and communities about this unsuspecting disease.”

Frank Taylor thanked the Carroll County Men in Black and Blue Organization for allowing him to emphasize the importance of paying property taxes before the imminent deadline. Frank recounted factors affecting the health of Black men in America and stated, “We must do a better job managing our health if we are going to save rural America.”
