The Carroll County Health Advisors Men in Black and Blue Organization held their annual health fair on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at J. Z. George High School Gymnasium in Carrollton, MS. Claude Elam, one of the lead organizers, spoke about the team effort to create a successful health fair. He stated, “We meet monthly to discuss pertinent issues impacting our communities. As men, we are reluctant to visit with our medical providers in a timely manner. This venue creates an environment, with a sense of connectivity, for the men in the Delta.” September is slated as “Prostate Awareness” month, and our organization wanted to create a comfortable environment for the gentleman to learn how to manage their health and increase participation.

Today, we have the Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital Staff of Winona, MS. They are conducting the PSA exams. We want to thank all the vendors for providing their professional services to help save lives in rural America. This is a comprehensive approach to resolving undiagnosed physical and mental health issues within our communities. We want to express our sincere appreciation to the Fannie Lou Hamer Cancer Foundation for creating a healthier environment for our families to thrive.” The Winston County Self Help Cooperative Team Leader, Frank Taylor, said, “This is an awesome opportunity to serve our communities with health care. We will replicate this format on Wednesday, October 1st, 1-5 pm, at our campus, 2948 Highpoint-Weir Rd, Louisville, MS. The G. A. Carmichael Family Center of Canton, MS, will be our service provider for the health fair.
